correlation to science/health frameworks

VISION 2026: 
Alameda County Supervisor's Office District 2 (Richard Valle) is funding a program for healthy children with New Haven School District and Math Science Nucleus.  Masonic Home Reforestation and Composting Project will be highlighted in science and health lesson plans.  Below are the classes we will be offering for NHUSD. 

FREE ZOOM CLASSES. 
1 hour virtual tour (45 minutes for Kindergarten) and worksheets with activities that students can do at home will be available.  Teachers should REGISTER for appropriate grade and time slots  listed below.     

Scientists will guide students through a virtual tour with video clips, live presentation, and more. We will repeat presentations for A and B group.  A will start at 8:15-9:15am and B will start at 12:30-1:30pm for 1-5th grades and Kindergarten will be 8:30-9:15 am for A and 12:30-1:15 pm  for B.    Register early, you will get a reminder and codes for both sessions 5 days prior to presentation.     These codes can be the sent to your students. For security reasons you will have to register for A and B and you will receive separate codes.

Many animals live in the East Bay Hills in the eastern part of Union City.  The mammals, reptiles, birds, and invertebrates will be emphasized.

Look at how Ohlones lived, eat, cleaned, create shelter, and how they entertained themselves.   Compare native plants and how the Ohlones used them for food source.  Will explore how they fished and hunted and look at the tools they used.

The Ohlones used the land to gather food.  They used the native plants like coast live oak to eat acorns; tules to make boats and homes; and elderberry to make food and musical instruments.Students will learn about the native vegetation that allowed them to live and prosper for thousands of years.
