Retaining Wall and Stairs,
Creek, Station 5

by
Aarnav Gupta,
Troop 154, Fremont

My eagle project consisted of constructing 2 concrete stairs as well as 2 retaining walls to solve the issue of soil erosion at a creek crossing at Tule Ponds. The retaining walls are 6 and 8 feet long, and redirect the water flow to preserve the environment. These walls are supported by five 4x4 posts, which are placed 2 feet into the ground with cement to hold them up. The stairs have a rebar mesh within them, which further strengthen the structure. This project was constructed by me, Aarnav Gupta.

The project was facilitated by my father Madhur Gupta, and my friend's father Ashish Gupta. My cousin Lakshya also helped in construction. In addition, I had 5 scout volunteers from my troop who attended my workdays. I received donations from Home Depot, my troop, as well as Dr. Blueford. Lastly, I received all my materials and tools from Home Depot.
