To accomplish this Eagle Scout project, I led a group of younger Boy Scouts in transforming the site at Tule Ponds. On the first day, we focused on preparing the area for the retaining wall. Using shovels, rakes, and other tools, we worked together to level the ground, ensuring a stable foundation for the wall. We also cleared the surrounding trail by cutting back any overgrown brush that extended into the workspace. This preparation set the stage for the more labor-intensive tasks to come and ensured the site was safe and organized for construction.

The second day started with a trip to Home Depot, where I measured and cut logs to the required dimensions and drilled holes for nails and washers. After gathering additional materials like concrete, drills, and hammers, I transported everything to the site. With the help of the younger Scouts, we assembled the retaining wall by placing the pre-cut wood into position and securing it with washers, nails, and poles. To ensure durability, we used a gas-powered drill to make holes for the poles and set them into the ground with concrete. Finally, we covered the concrete with dirt to secure the structure further and blend it with the surrounding environment.
