Supporting Retaining Wall above Mowry Outflow

I built a retaining wall and a planter box enclosure that improved the trail area and made it safer and more sturdy. The previous retaining wall was sliding down the trail and was no longer holding the soil along the trail, which is why I decided to create a new wall, then create a planter box between the old and the new wall. To begin, I dug new post holes, then installed new posts and filled them with cement for a stronger hold. After completing the installation of the posts, I then attached the wooden planks, which formed the retaining wall. I then put planks on the edges connecting the two walls and covered the edges of the wall with soil and filled it with gravel for a stronger base for the planter box.

This project was made possible with the help of many people, especially the scouts from my troop. Older and younger scouts both attended the workday, and I grouped them for a more efficient way of completing the work. The older scouts helped with more difficult tasks such as digging the post holes, using tools, and connecting the planks with bolts, while the younger scouts helped clear the area, move materials, and fill in soil and gravel. I also communicated with the beneficiary and coordinated the work schedule so everything could be completed on time. With everyone working together, we finished the project ahead of schedule and ensured it was done safely and correctly.
