GRAVITY - LAB
PROBLEM:
Can you distinguish each of
Newton's Laws of Motion?
HYPOTHESIS:
MATERIALS:
Balloon, 2-3 small balls, paper towel
NEWTON'S LAWS OF MOTION
-
An object in motion
continues, unless acted upon by a force.
-
Force equals mass
times acceleration.
-
For every action
there is an opposite and equal reaction.
Follow instructions below and try to
distinguish the laws of motion. You must justify your answer.
-
Use a paper towel.
Try to tear it slowly? Then tear it by using a sharp jerking
motion. Which is more effective and why?
-
Drop 2 balls of
different weight from the same height. Describe what happens?
-
Push against a wall?
Does it push against you? Clue: If you had roller skates on, and
pushed against a wall, what would happen?
-
Blow a balloon and
let it go.
-
Throw a ball
(softly) against a wall.
-
Throw a ball
vertically about 5 feet. Describe the path?
