PROBLEM:
How can you find out which pen wrote a particular note?
HYPOTHESIS:
MATERIALS:
6 pens, 6
filter paper strips, beaker, water, tape, plastic rods

Using filter paper,
cut out 6 3" rectangular segments.

Number each strip of
filter paper at the top using pencil.

Draw a line 2 cm
from the bottom of each strip using pencil.

For each of the
strips, use the corresponding "evidence" marking pen to draw a line over
the pencil line.

Tape one end of the
strip to a plastic rod.
-
Using the
corresponding number "evidence" pen draw a line 2 cm up from the bottom.

Pour 75 mL of water
into a 250 ml beaker.

Suspend the plastic
rod over the beaker.
-
The filter paper
strip should be barely touching the water.
-
Remove the filter
paper and rod from the beaker when the water line is just below the rod.
