PRODUCTS FROM MAGNETS
PROBLEM:
How is electricity and magnetism used to make a motor run?
HYPOTHESIS
MATERIALS:
Motor module, manual, motor
An electric motor contains three basic
parts: the field magnets; a rotating armature that is an
electromagnet; and a commutator which changes the direction of the
current in the armature.
Read through the instructions on how to
make an electric motor. Look at the demonstration motor that your
teacher has on display.
Go through the parts and try and make a
motor. IT IS DIFFICULT. If you cannot make one, that is OK.
Key portion of this lab is trying to explain how it works. Draw a
diagram on how you think the motor works below. This will help you
in your conclusion.
