Lesson 1.  The Need for Mathematics

In the minds of great mathematicians,  they  see the world in formulas.  They have learned the ability using numerals and symbols to quantify the world.  Many people are sometimes mystified by equations and just assume that they are difficult.  They get lost in the numbers and symbols.  However, mathematical equations are tools that actually make solving problems easy.   People can solve problems by using equations that simplify different situations.  Equations are as elegant as a well written song.

Was mathematics invented or was it discovered?   If math was invented that infers that there were choices of other “models.”  If math was discovered, that would mean that math and its numbers and equations are unique and there was only one logical conclusion.  In mathematics, rules are created by users and properties are assigned.  Mathematics is the symbolic counterpart of the universe we perceive.  So it can be logical in one world, and illogical in another.
