Brachiopods are present today, but are not common in the deep marine. In
the past, especially in the Paleozoic they were very abundant. They
resemble clams, but they are not. The two shells of brachiopods are not
the same, as in clams and the living organisms have a completely
different lifestyle.
Echinoderms are a large group that includes sand dollars and sea
urchins. In the past, crinoids were abundant and littered the ocean
floor. Today they are present, but not to the extend as in the
Paleozoic.
