Science is important because we have medicines, medicines help sick people.   Also the reason why science is important is because as my father says, Science is Latin for knowledge and that's what I get out of it...knowledge.  For example, I like the study of the universe.  My parents say that this is called astronomy.  We get a lot of knowledge from this study.  We learn the earth is affected by the interactions of the sun, moon, and other planets.  More over, because of science, I can learn more about myself, learning about my body how it's made up and how it works.  This is called biology .  So science is important .   It gives you knowledge and information about you and your world.

Science helps us to understand
the twinkling of a star, changes in the land.

It teaches us about things we take for granted,
Like why a plant grows when it is planted.

We learned about animals with a backbone and without,
The water cycle and what rain is all about.

Science tells us why and how electricity flows,
How our bodies work  from our head to our toes.

It explores the very large and the very small.
From solar systems to atoms, Science covers it all.

Our need to discover will always last,
Science leads us to the future by studying the present and the past

Why is science important?  Could it be that it expands our knowledge?  Science is and still will be one of the most important key to life.

Science goes back 2,500 years ago when Thales discovered magnetism, a few years later, Pythagorus discovered the basic theory of astronomy and mathematics.  About 2,000 years ago, Hero of Alexandria invented the steam engine.  In 1657 Christriaan Huygens discovered the pendulum clock, the first accurate clock.

Other useful inventions and discoveries made is the light bulb by Thomas Edison in 1879, the discovery of gravity by Issac Newton in 1727 and the famous discovery of electricity by Benjamin Franklin in 1752.

All of these discoveries are made possible because of science.  These are great examples of why science helps us.  Technology helped save many lives by discovering medicine for diseases.
We lead more comfortable lives because of science.
