The basic parts of the skeleton are important to identify. If you have ever had a broken or fractured bone, you can understand the severity of the injury. This lab will have you identify the different components of the skeleton; then classify the bones on the worksheet; and then construct a skeleton electronically and using a model. Letís learn a little more information about the parts you will identify during lab.

The skull is supported by the top of the spinal column and is oval in shape. It is composed of a series of flattened or irregularly shaped bones which are immovable, except for the jaw region. The skull protects the brain, which is the control station for the entire body.
