Soaproot
Brush ( code spbr1)
The native plant called soaproot (Chlorogalum
pomeridianum) was utilized by the Ohlone Peoples to make
brushes that were used for acorn processing. Lean to
make a soaproot brush from the fibers surrounding the bulb and
create the handle from the cooked bulb. Fee $35.00 for
MSN Members and $40 for Non-members. Date: Sunday

Making
cordage and Necklace/Bracelet
Learn how to twist natural plant fibers into strong
cordage from an herbaceous perennial called Dogbane (Apocynum
cannabinum). Y ou'll make a nacklace or bracelet
using your plied
string, pine nuts and olivella shells. Fee: $35.00 MSN
Members, $40.00 non-members. Ages 15-adult. Class
size limited to 20 students.

Tule
Series: Tule Boat (tstulebt1)
The pithy cells of the Tule make this marsh plant and
ideal material for boats. Come and learn the process of
gathering and tying a full size Tule boat that will be used
for school programs. When it is completed, we'll take
the Tule boat on its maiden voyage. You'll also learn to
make your very own miniature Tule boat. Fee: $45.00 MSN
Members, $50.00 Non-members for all 4 days Ages: 16-

Tule
Series: Tule House (tstulehse1)
Come and learn the complete construction process of a tule
house. We'll build the willow frame, gather the tule,
and cover the frame with tule mats. The tule house will
be used for future school programs at the Tule Ponds.
We'll also have fun making a few tule items to take home, like
a tule bittern toy and a tule basket. Fee: $60.00
MSN Members, $65.00 Non-members for all 5 days Ages: 16-
Adult. Class size unlimited (the more the merrier)
